Who votes for the Oscars?
An L.A. Times study of Oscar voters finds that their demographics are much less diverse than the moviegoing public. Academy leaders say they want to diversify.
No one knows for certain how much impact they have on the lives of other people.

Some quotes I found on profiles while Facebook...
Not that these relate to my particular time in life, but they are nice.
“Life will break you. Nobody can protect you from that, and living alone won’t either, for solitude will also break you with its yearning. You have to love. You have to feel. It is the reason you are here on earth. You are here to risk your heart. You are here to be swallowed up. And when it happens that you are broken,...

I get 10 days off for Easter:) Going to hit Andalucia hard. Seville for the Semana Santa festivities, but also 1-2 day trips to Granada, Cordoba, Cadiz, and Ronda. They’re all within an hour and a half train ride from Seville.
Granada
Cordoba
Cadiz
Ronda
Seville vs. Granada
For my Easter Holiday. We get a solid 5 days off and I think it would be fun to go to the Semana Santa festivities in Spain. Seville and Granada have the best shows. Granada is closer to the beach for a fun day trip, but there seems to be more to do in Seville. Oh, first world problems.
Beginning of term, always so busy.
Have a lot of commitments with the Rotary this next month. Will be going into lab on Saturdays. Taking life drawing classes at the art school (or nudey drawing classes, as my friends like to say). Trying to keep social with friends. Busy bee, but I’m really happy with the busyness. I think that’s how you defeat the long stretches of darkness in the UK is by never being in your room.

Music
Have been mixing up my days this week with Alan Jackson and late 80’s/early 90’s hip hop. Alan Jackson makes me look forward to visiting home. The hip hop is great—specifically The Blue Scholars and Grandmaster Flash. It’s incredible to think about how the rap that has been on the radio for the past five years has evolved from this. The Blue Scholars and GF actually have a...
Chinese Labmates
They know where to get the best Dim Sum, ever. My lab went to day for lunch. As my initiation into the lab group I had to try the chicken feet. Looked more appetizing than I expected, but definitely not going to eat it again.
Thanksgiving in Cambridge
Meeting with people on my program for a big Thanksgiving potluck, really excited. Also helping to plan the Thanksgiving dinner for Balliol’s MCR. Of note, canned pumpkin is ridiculously hard to find in England, they just don’t have it. I also had to defend our “misguided mashed potatoes” during this planning committee meeting… these Brits mostly roast theirs....
